1. The Product: Copper Wire Scrap

  • What it is: Copper wire scrap consists of discarded electrical wire and cable that has reached the end of its useful life. It is a highly sought-after recyclable material due to its high copper content. The value is determined by the percentage of recoverable copper and the ease of separating it from its insulation.

  • Sources: We source from a controlled network within Tanzania, including:

    • Industrial Demolition: Decommissioned power plants, factories, and infrastructure projects.

    • Electrical Utilities: Retired power transmission and distribution cables from utility companies.

    • Automotive: Harnesses from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs).

    • Telecommunications: Obsolete communication and data cables.

  • Common Grades We Handle:

    • Bare Bright Copper Wire (#1): The highest grade. Uncoated, unalloyed, and untinned copper wire with a minimum 99% copper content. Must be clean and free of insulation, burns, or corrosion.

    • Copper Wire (#2): Clean, unalloyed copper wire that may be tin-coated or have minor solder, but is free of excessive burns or insulation. Typically has a lower percentage of copper recovery than #1.

    • Insulated Copper Wire (ICW): Wire that still has its plastic, rubber, or cloth insulation. This is further categorized by the thickness of the wire and the type of insulation, which affects the recovery rate.
